Tiramisu

I have always wanted to make this fantastic Italian dessert but for some reason i just have never been able to get all the ingredients complete!
Yesterday i went shopping and i found everything!!! I was so excited and couldn't wait to get home to try on this world famous Italian dessert!
So this was my first attempt at making Homemade Virgin Tiramisu (without the alcohol) i must admit the masala gives it a unique kick but i don't drink alcohol so had to do without it but shockingly it tasted so well that my hubby's friend didn't believe it was my first time making it! I felt really proud and happy at the outcome...Ok enough talking...Lets get to it...Wink

Ingredients:

  • lady finger biscuits
  • mascopona cheese
  • egg yolks
  • milk
  • heavy cream
  • granulated sugar
  • cocoa powder
  • espresso or coffee
  • chocolate (shaved)
  • vanilla extract

Lets Make It:

1. Have a pot of boiling water on heat. Put a heat proof bowl on top it and add the egg yolks, whisk fast (you don't want to be left with scrambled eggs), Add the sugar and keep whisking, add a little milk to give it a nice smooth texture, when you have gotten a nice consistency take out and set aside to cool off.
2. Pour the instant Espresso or Coffee in a bowl of hot water. Set aside to cool off.
3. Add the vanilla extract in your cream and whip well. Set aside.
4. Pour the Mascopona cheese into the egg mixture and mix every well until smooth, stir in the whip cream and use a plastic spatular to turn like you are wrapping the mixture without scattering the whipped cream until it has mixed properly.
5. Get the pan you want to use and get ready to line up your lady finger biscuit. Gradually dip the lady finger biscuit in the espresso (you have to do this fast as it soaks up really fast you must avoid letting it become soggy), Line the soaked biscuit in the pan, pour half of the mascopona mixture on top of it, use a shifter to sprinkle cocoa powder on top, repeat the step again, dip the lady fingers in expresso, pour the remaining mascopona mixture, sprinkle with cocoa powder and some of the shaved chocolate.
6. Cover well with foil and put in the fridge for at least 8 hours before serving. The longer it stays in the fridge the better it gets.
7. You can now freely indulge yourself with this yummilicious dessert!!! Wink
